Description

Imation Rainbow™ Color Proofing System Transparency Film - WB is a specially coated film that can be used with the Rainbow™ color proofing system.

The Rainbow™ color proofing system consists of a thermal dye sublimation proofer and software that controls the Rainbow™ proofer from a Macintosh™ or Windows™ computer.

The Rainbow™ proofer prints at 300 dots per inch (dpi) using yellow, magenta, cyan, and black dyes on Rainbow™ system color proofing base-commercial/design clear and white ABR or transparency.

There are different color target selections which simulate various printing conditions.

To use the Rainbow™ system transparency film in the Rainbow™ proofer, the operator selects the "Transparency" color target when setting preferences. Use the "ABR Clear" color target if a closer approximation to Commercial color is needed. (See "Setting Preferences at the Print Server" in the Rainbow™ Color Proofing System Operator's Guide.)

Ink Ribbon

Rainbow™ system transparency film uses the WB size ribbon. (#77-9803-7692-3)

Paper Cassette Tray Rainbow™ system transparency film requires the use of the A4 cassette tray (77-9803-9628-5). To load the transparency film, use the following instructions. (See "Adding Paper" in the Operator's Guide, section 2, for detailed instructions.)

1. Remove the cassette tray from the front of the proofer by lifting up slightly and pulling. (Figure 1) 2. Remove the plastic cover on the cassette tray. (Figure 2) 3. While pressing down on the load lever located at the top of the cassette tray, place the ABR into the cassette tray. Fan the ABR as you place it into the tray, touching only the edges. The proofing side of the ABR must be facing down (the frosty side will be facing up). (Figure 3)

Handling

Avoid touching the printed side of the transparency film, as skin oils cause defects on the proof. Wear gloves or wash hands before handling the film. Handle film by the edges.

Storage

Store Rainbow™ system transparency film in a flat position at all times. Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature no higher than 95°F (35°C) with a relative humidity between 30% and 80%.

Store imaged transparency film flat, back to front. Do not store image-to-image. Store out of direct light and away from excessive heat conditions beyond the office environment.

Optimum Use:
Imaged transparencies should be placed in overhead transparency sleeves, or in paper envelopes and folders. Do not store in plastic. Some non-Imation sleeves may affect the image quality.
